A little more than a century ago, one of the founders of the community conceived the Downtown City Park as the centerpiece of Paso Robles. This beautiful city block dedicated to activity, assembly, and attractiveness personified our founders' value of quality leisure experiences. Its placement and dedication proved critical to the establishment and development of our city's commitment to quality places, programs and spaces. One hundred fifteen years later, Paso Robles REC Foundation polishes and renews the vision and creates a plan to assure that our citizens have local access to beautiful places, quality programs and state-of-the-art equipment.
REC Foundation, which stands for ''Recreation Enhances Community,'' formed in 1999 and formally became a non-profit foundation in February 2000. The non-profit group consists of 13 members and six honorary members.
