Shanbrom Family Foundation Helps Fund Facilitated
Roundtables Designed to Unite Local Nonprofit Community
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (March 28, 2024) — Spokes, an organization providing resources to support and empower the nonprofit community, will offer free, facilitated Fostering Common Purpose Roundtables designed to support collaboration and connectivity among San Luis Obispo County nonprofits in 2024.
With funding support from the Shanbrom Family Foundation, Spokes aims to gather nonprofits that serve common service sectors––including housing, youth services, arts and culture and more––to encourage networking and problem-solving in a confidential space, supported by a nonprofit professional.
“We know there are a myriad of benefits to nonprofit collaboration, from leveraging resources and pursuing joint funding to increasing service impact and visibility,” said Michael Simkins, chief executive officer of Spokes. “With financial support from the Shanbrom Family Foundation, we are able to offer and build awareness around sector-specific roundtable opportunities that maximize advantageous outcomes.”
The 60-minute Fostering Common Purpose Roundtables will be held via Zoom from 10 to 11 a.m. and facilitated by Spokes Program Assistant Theda Parker, MSW, whose background in social work has included work for local nonprofits and government organizations.
Spokes will additionally host a live Fostering Collaboration symposium this fall to facilitate in-person networking across nonprofit sectors.
The current schedule for Fostering Common Purpose Roundtables by nonprofit sector is as follows:
April 24: Arts, Culture & Humanities Sector
May 29: Youth Services Sector
June 26: Animal-Related Service Sector
July 24: Aging & Disability Service Sector
