Event Description:
Short-term vacation rentals have been growing at an incredible speed since the start of their existence. They have also created a good deal of discussion, both positive and negative, about their effects on neighborhoods and possible financial benefits. Our April speaker will cover both sides of the argument during her presentation: Vacation Rentals: Good or Bad for our Community and Economy?
Our Nonprofit Spotlight: Paso Robles Pioneer Museum The Paso Robles Pioneer Museum, established in 1971, is a community museum dedicated to preserving the special heritage of the area. It is operated and maintained by volunteers and relies on donations to further its programs.
Our Featured Speaker: Kathy Kelly
Serial entrepreneur, Kathy Kelly, began her career in the then-start-up cable network, CNN, as a Video Journalist. Several twists and turns in her career brought her to the Central Coast in 2003, where she purchased a small home in Downtown Paso Robles and rented it out as a "vacation rental." Already having some experience in property management, she launched the Central Coast market for Turkey Vacation Rentals out of Austin, Texas. After growing their Central Coast portfolio to 100 homes, the company cut 20% of the staff, including Kathy. This led her to launch Digs Vacation Rentals with the support of several of her homeowners who followed her to Digs. Now in its 5th year, Digs Vacation Rentals is the #2 Property Management company on the Central Coast (according to AirDNA) with 50+ properties in the portfolio and still growing strong.
