“Corralling a Choir: Why Write Choral Music?” presented by Dr. Alyson McLamore The practice of singing in harmony evolved over centuries. Learn about the cultural doors opened with this innovation and the motivations that led composers to write choral works, as well as the various audiences for choral music. The San Luis Obispo Master Chorale is hosting an educational presentation given by Dr. Alyson McLamore, Professor of Music and Distinguished Teacher at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, as part of its Beyond the Notes series. This presentation coincides with the SLO Master Chorale’s 40th anniversary season and a concert on Sunday, November 24, at 3 pm at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo. Titled “Encore!” it’s a selection of movements from favorite compositions from 40 years of performances, and the world premiere of a new work by local composer Meredith Brammeier titled That Music Always Round Me.
